Plus, a low carb holiday cocktail party menu.

‘Tis the season for holiday parties. To make any celebration a carb-conscious affair, I have the inside tips on the yummiest guilt-free treats to fill your plate with and some fresh, new recipes to help you “sleigh” any holiday party. And let’s get out of the mindset that you have to “survive” the holidays with these 6 tips for THRIVING during the holidays.

Smart, Low Carb Holiday Food Choices

Planning and making strategic food choices can help you enjoy the festivities without compromising your low carb lifestyle. Here are some tips for delicious low carb party picks:

Vegetables: Go for high-fiber, low carb veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers and bell peppers.

Cheese and Charcuterie: Savor the cheese plate and cured meats such as salami or prosciutto. They are typically low in carbs and high in healthy fats and protein, which can keep you satisfied and full. These Keto Antipasto Skewers are the perfect low-carb, charcuterie-theme party finger food.

Nuts and Seeds: Almonds, pecans, walnuts and pumpkin seeds are low in carbs and make a great snack.

Dips and Spreads: Go for guacamole, salsa and other low carb dips. Use veggies or low carb crackers for dipping.

Protein-Rich Picks: Look for dishes with chicken, turkey, beef or seafood. Watch for anything doused in sugar sauces or breading.

Deviled Eggs: These are a low carb and protein-rich party favorite.

Olives and Pickles: Both are low in carbs and can be a tangy, satisfying addition your plate.

Salads: Fill up on salads packed with leafy greens and fresh vegetables. Avoid the croutons and opt for olive oil and vinegar instead of high-carb dressings.

Shrimp Cocktail: Shrimp is low in carbs. Try this keto shrimp cocktail recipe featuring a red and green sauce for a festive holiday touch. If you’re unsure how much sugar is in a cocktail sauce, go for a squeeze of lemon.

Baked or Grilled Appetizers: Choose grilled chicken skewers, meatballs or stuffed mushrooms. Just ensure they aren’t coated in breadcrumbs or covered in sweet sauces.

Low Carb Beverages: Choose water, sparkling water or unsweetened tea or coffee. If you drink alcohol, stick to low carb options like dry wine, champagne or spirits with a no-carb mixer like club soda or tonic.
