What is Glycemic Load? "Glycemic" means "relating to the sugar or glucose in the blood." The glycemic load simply estimates how much a food will raise a person's blood glucose level after eating it. The greater the glycemic impact of a food, the greater and more rapid its impact is on your blood sugar level—and that may cause your body to produce greater levels of insulin to return your blood sugar to a normal level.
