INGREDIENTS

  • 0 1/2 cup Real Mayonnaise
  • 0 1/2 cup (about 23 slices) Dill Pickles
  • 2 tbsp chopped Onions
  • 1 tbsp, drained Capers
  • 2 tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 0 1/2 teaspoon Sucralose Based Sweetener (Sugar Substitute)

DIRECTIONS

Tartar sauce is a breeze to make, and making it yourself ensures that it will have no added sugar.  This American classic is particularly good with crab cakes or other fried seafood, but try it over vegetables too.  See variation for Rémoulade below.  Each serving is 2 Tbsp.

  1. Combine mayonnaise, diced pickle, diced onion, capers, mustard and 1 tsp granular sugar substitute in a small bowl.
  2. Serve immediately or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Remoulade:  Prepare Tartar Sauce according to directions, omitting the onion and adding 2 finely chopped hard-boiled eggs, 2 tablespoons minced parsley and 2 teaspoons minced tarragon.  If possible, replace the pickle with 2 tablespoons finely chopped sour gherkin.

Cooking Tip

If you’ve tried this sauce and like it, try experimenting with herbs and spices to flavor it your way!
