Two pink strawberry smoothies in glass jars with curly straws, mint leaves, and fresh strawberries on peach background.
Cooking tip: Agua fresca is the gently sweet, fruity water popular in Mexico that makes staying hydrated a delightful task. We added collagen peptides to get a protein boost that won’t leave you feeling overfull. This is a pretty simple recipe, and the amount of sweetener can be individualized based on your taste preference and the sweetness of the strawberries you use. Note that any liquid, no-sugar sweetener can be used for this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups tap water
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 20 grams collagen peptides, unflavored
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lime juice, 100%, fresh squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon multi-use no sugar syrup, Splenda
  • 4 leaves fresh peppermint

Directions:

  1. In a blender, layer cold water, strawberries, collagen peptide powder, lime juice and liquid sweetener. Blend on high until strawberries are completely broken down and a nice froth as developed, about 1 minute. Taste and add sweetener if desired.
  2. In each of two 16-ounce glasses, place half the mint and muddle with the handle of a wood spoon. Evenly divide agua fresca between the glasses, adding ice if desired.
