Low Carb Citrus Mezcal Breeze
Cooking tip: The flavor of this cocktail depends heavily on using ripe mango. If your mango is not quite ripe, it will be more resistant to being pureed, and may need a few drops liquid stevia or monkfruit for sweetness. There are a variety of options for modifying this cocktail to make it your own. Consider trying different flavors of unsweetened sparkling water, use a larger glass and a heavier pour for the mezcal, or more ice and more sparkling water for even softer smoky mezcal flavor. However you adapt this recipe it is sure to feel like a cool breeze when sipping it!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup lime juice, 100%, fresh squeezed FNDDS
  • 1/2 cup fresh mango, pieces USDA
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice, 100%, fresh squeezed FNDDS
  • 2 1/2 gram(s) edible fresh flowers
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, coarse Morton
  • 1/8 teaspoon chili powder, 036800328198, organic Red Monkey
  • 4 fluid ounces tequila FNDDS
  • 3 fluid ounces mezcal
  • 12 fluid ounces mango flavored unsweetened sparkling water

Directions:

Ingredient note: we recommend using silver tequila for this recipe.
  1. In a blender, puree mango on high until smooth.
  2. Juice lemon and lime, then use spent citrus to wet the rim of 4 cocktail glasses (at least 10 fl oz capacity). Combine salt and chili powder on a plate and dip the wet glass rims in the combination to coat.
  3. To make each cocktail, combine a rounded tablespoon pureed mango (about 20 g), 1 tablespoon each lemon juice and lime juice, 1 fluid ounce tequila, and ¾ fluid ounce mezcal in each rimmed glass, stirring to mix. Top with ice and 3 ounces unsweetened mango flavored sparkling water, garnish with edible flowers if desired and serve. One cocktail as described is one serving.
