Swedish Red Cabbage

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 teaspoon Allspice Ground
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter Stick
  • 2 medium (2-3/4" diameter) (approx 3 per pound) Apples
  • 2 tablespoons Vinegar (Cider)
  • 2 pounds Cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon Sucralose Based Sweetener (Sugar Substitute)
  • 1 small Red Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 2/3 fluid ounces Red Table Wine

Directions:

  1. Shred cabbage.
  2. Melt butter in a large, heavy Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add chopped apples and onion. Cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender.
  3. Stir in cabbage and cook 8 minutes more, stirring frequently, until slightly wilted. Stir in sugar substitute, vinegar, salt and allspice.
  4. Cover and cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Uncover, add wine. Cook 10-15 minutes more, until very tender. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
