An App That Keeps Me Honest

July 9, 2015

I recently downloaded the Atkins mobile app, and although
I’ve been counting my carbs for 30 years (and thinking I was doing a pretty
good job at it), after I started using the app, I realized I was eating more than
I thought! I had assumed I was sticking to right around 40 grams of Net Carbs,
but it turns out it was closer to 60 to 70! And while I thought I was eating
around 1,500 calories a day, in fact it was closer to 1,200 calories. This was
a very valuable exercise for me, and it taught me that the Atkins mobile app
can be a great reality check to show you exactly where you are in terms of
carbs, protein, fat and calorie intake, even if you consider yourself a
low-carb “veteran” as I did.

Even better, the app is free. If you’re on a weight-loss
plateau, this is a great little tool that might help you discover if you’ve
been eating more carbs and calories than you thought. If you’re new to Atkins,
it can help you set the right target based on your metabolism and
program—Atkins 20™ or Atkins 40™. You can track your weight loss and how close
you are to hitting your goal weight. Keep track of Net Carbs, protein, fat and
foundation vegetables—basically everything you eat, whether you’re at home or
in a restaurant. You have access to over 1,600 low-carb recipes, so you can
plan your meals and snacks, and activity trackers can help you track your daily
steps.

Try
it
for yourself, and let me know what you think! You may be
surprised at what you learn!
