‘Tis the Season To Give the Gift of Health
I really try to keep things in perspective during this time of the year. It’s so easy to succumb to the stress and craziness of the holidays, while forgetting what is most important: family, friends and special traditions. I’m thankful for so many things, including how great I feel on Atkins. Living a low-carb lifestyle has become easy to maintain; it’s NOT hard. I’m excited to slip into some sparkly holiday dresses and celebrate the season and all my hard work. Meanwhile, planning my low-carb meals and snacks helps keep my hunger in check and my energy up. Since I want everyone to feel as great as I do, I’ve decided to give the gift of health to the special people in my life. Here are some gifts I’m giving this year.
Alyssa’s “Good Health” Holiday Gift List
Water bottles—I carry a water bottle with me everywhere I go, especially when I travel. Water helps keep my skin hydrated and my thirst quenched. I’m also less likely to reach for a sugary coffee drink. Many airports even have filtered water stations, so you can refill your bottle with fresh, cold water as soon as you make it through security.
Yummy stocking stuffers—Santa’s been known to leave some sugar-free Atkins Treats in a stocking or two.
Gift cards to a meal-delivery service—What’s more convenient than having fresh ingredients and easy-to-follow recipes shipped right to your door? What’s even better? Having fresh low-carb ingredients and recipes shipped right to your door. Atkins has teamed up with Chef’d to do just that. This is a delicious way to ease into Atkins and jumpstart those New Year’s resolutions.
Healthy experiences—The gift of time is truly a meaningful thing. And taking the time to share a healthy experience with a friend or family member is even better. Signing up for some spin or Pilates classes is motivating and fun and something we can do together, as are massages or facials, even a quick mani/pedi.
Thought-provoking reads—Good health comes from the inside out, and giving your brain a workout is also important. I like to share some of my favorite books with my favorite people in my life, and then I look forward to having a spirited discussion over a meal together.
I’d love to hear what kind of “good health” gifts you’re giving this year, too!
Alyssa’s “Make it through the Holidays” Low-Carb Snacks
I decided it was time to shake up my low-carb snack routine to help me keep up with the holiday rush. Here are some new favorites:
This has been my go-to breakfast lately, especially when I’m in a rush—I just crumble an Atkins Peanut Butter Granola Bar in Greek yogurt and top with sliced strawberries!
This super smoothie has all-natural ingredients, plus a nice combination of healthy fat and protein to keep my hunger in check.
